We’re asking that individuals, families, and businesses consider sponsoring one or more of our new robots. We’ll put your name or company logo on the box and on the robot controller, and you’ll play a part in our camps and Juneau robotics program for many years to come. Our EV3 robots lasted for approximately eight years, so we expect these Spike robots to be around awhile.

Will you consider partnering with us to provide STEM programming to kids in Juneau? You can use the link below to get started, or email Alyson at acooper@jedc.org with questions.

Nearly all of Juneau’s schools and hundreds of campers have enjoyed using our old EV3 and WeDo 2.0 robots for fun, STEM learning, and FIRST LEGO League competition. They’ve done well and taken our kids to the state championship and beyond for many years- but now LEGO Education has discontinued support for them and there’s a new robot in town. This year, our camps and schools will be using these new robots, and we’re inviting Juneau’s businesses and families to be a part of making it happen!

Spike Prime robot kits will be used for LEGO Robotics Challenge Camps (4th through 8th grades) and will be checked out to Juneau school teams for FIRST LEGO League Challenge. Those teams will compete next winter in the Juneau Robot Jamboree for an invitation to the Alaska Robot Rendezvous in Anchorage, with an opportunity to advance to the FIRST World Championship. We need 22 new robots, and each kit (with added parts) is $400.

Spike Essential robot kits will be used for our younger campers (1st through 4th grades) and will be used by schools with FIRST LEGO League Explore teams. These teams typically spend the first few months of the school year preparing for their Festival, held in conjunction with the Juneau Robot Jamboree. We need 17 of these kits, at $275 apiece.
